The Youth Group at Oakdale UMC has had a great start of the new year. The youth paired up with Comanche UMC and FUMC Stephenville for a 30-hour famine. The youth fasted for 30 hours through World Vision to raise awareness for world hunger. As a group they collected 102 canned food items to donate to Faith Lutherans Food Pantry. Over the course of the 30-hour famine the youth had worship, prayer stations, and time for fellowship. This event was a great way to show service to our community and it has sparked interest in the youth to do other service projects like participate in the community garden.

The Youth have also have been strengthening their spiritual gifts by participating in worship. We have youth singing with Shelter, being acolyte’s and helping with offering. The Youth program is always looking for volunteers, prayers, snacks, and donations.
